Greener Buildings

EdwardWoodsEstate.jpg Plans are in for two 'green' buildings for London. A refurbishment project for the Edward Woods Estate in Shepherds Bush would fit wind turbines and over 1,200sq m of solar panels to the three towers, which should generate enough power to run the lifts, communal lighting, door entry systems and CCTV. The buildings will also be reclad to reduce heating bills. The Gherkin may also be getting a new neighbour, covered in recycled glass panels that will give it a lovely green (coloured) glow. The proposed 15 storey office block will also have a series of terraces and roof gardens. Hammersmith and Fulham are expected to approve the energy scheme this month, while the City edifice goes before planners later in the year. (Image / Nicobobinus)
