Another example to prove that anything the mayor can do, ordinary folk can do too... maybe not better, though as Boris gets to close the roads. Still, if you've ever wanted to enjoy a gentle ride through central London, but have been too afraid to dodge the traffic, there should be safety in numbers this evening. A bunch of cycling-minded people are gathering for a slow bike tour of London's sites, culminating with a cyclists' picnic at the end. Think of it as a much more genteel version of a critical mass ride. There are no details on the route, but get along to St James' Square by 6pm if you want to "join 200 or so of your closest friends for a start of summer bike ride and picnic!" By Patrick Fogarty.
