Crystal Palace Campaigners Call For Cinema

We're not calling it a trend quite yet, but campaigners in Crystal Palace are following the marker set down by Walthamstowites trying to save Hitchcock's cinema by campaiging for a local bingo hall to be transformed into a picture palace. In a welcome reversal of the usual cinema —> bingo hall makeover, the local populace want the venue to go from hosting the bingo-wing brigade to fans of the latest Michael Bay flick; however, competition comes in the form of an evangelical church, the Kingsway International Christian Centre (last seen squatting at Walthamstow Stadium), who have purchased the site. Campaigners argue that a cinema would be more widely popular in the local community, and question the wisdom of establishing yet another church in an area in which mothballs are already collecting on numerous other unvisited pews.
