Victoria Line Strike Planned For Wednesday & Thursday

1905_tube.jpg From 9pm on Wednesday night, 200 drivers on the busy line will down deadman's handles and begin a 24-hour strike. Assuming it goes ahead, the line will be largely fecked from Wednesday eve till Friday morn. The RMT union members are aggrieved at what they see as an issue of "bullying and intimidation", while London Underground claim that toys are being thrown out of the pram as a pressure point to reinstate a sacked driver who, according to LU, ignored safety procedures. Speaking of the dispute, the shy, retiring RMT leader Bob Crow channeled his inner Lech Walesa and vowed that his people would "not sit back as management play fast and loose" with safety, though true to form, he's quite happy to sit back and let them play fast and loose with Londoners' daily lives.
