Take some Gin, a little lychee liqueur and rosé Champagne, then mix with cranberry juice, cranberry syrup, and orange bitters and you’ve got the makings of a very refreshing cocktail. Garish that that sweet lil baby with a Singapore orchid and serve in a martini glass and you’ve got yourself the elgant and official RHS Chelsea Flower Show Cocktail.
Created by Gustavo Bertolucci, head mixologist at Pearl Restaurant & Bar (252 High Holborn, WC1V 7EN) the RHS Chelsea Flower Show Cocktail follows in the swanky footsteps of Flower Show tricks such as last year’s limited edition RHS Chelsea Flower Show Manolo Blahnik shoe. The cocktail will be available from today and throughout this year’s Chelsea Flower Show (19-23 May) and is priced at just under 14 quid.
Londonist sampled one these ‘special edition’ drinks the other day and thought it was very tasty indeed. £14 is a lot of money for us but, hey, if you’re gonna splurge this is an excellent way to do it - and Pearl is just the setting for such sumptuous sipping. Alternatively, you could have a go at making your own Flower Show Cocktail. Here’s the recipe:
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show Cocktail
25 ml Tanqueray Gin
25 ml Kwai Feh lychee liqueur
25 ml cranberry juice
10 ml cranberry syrup
Dash orange bitters
Ruinart Rosé Champagne
Shake the gin, lychee liqueur, cranberry juice,
cranberry syrup and orange bitters in a Boston Shaker
Double strain into a cocktail glass
Top up with Ruinart Rosé Champagne
Garnish with a Singapore Orchid
