Could there possibly be readers of Londonist who aren't lovely rationalists, who aren't really hoopy froods? We find it difficult to believe, and so we have no qualms in recommending that you immediately book tickets for a Night of 400 Billion Stars (And Maybe Some String Theory) at the Bloomsbury Theatre on 29 June.
The New Humanist magazine has put together an evening of entertainment and edification with proceeds going to the Rationalist Association - a charity that promotes reason and evidence in the understanding of life. And if that's not enough to pique your interest, just take a look at the collection of comedians and scientists they've got for you.
Simon Singh, highly respected science and maths author and journalist (and who's probably in need of an extra cheer right now, since he's being sued for libel). Chris Addison, comedian, actor and adorable, currently appearing in sweary political fun-fest In The Loop. The incomparable AL Kennedy - if there's another award-winning novelist out there who also does stand-up, we've yet to hear of them (check out her Guardian 'blog'; the woman's so dry she's practically a human drought). Quantum Theory Cannot Hurt You author, and New Scientist cosmology consultant (which may be the world's coolest job title), Marcus Chown. Hefner musicman Darren Hayman.
