Help For London's Unemployed

nojob.jpg As unemployment continues to rise and Job Centres struggle to cope, it's good to see the Mayor ploughing cash into getting 20,000 Londoners into work - for those who don't fancy being the next Jamie Oliver. £23m has been cobbled together from London Development Agency and European Social Fund, earmarked for 32 schemes across the capital. With payments depending on results, let's hope they're more successful than the endless, depressing round of form-filling down at the dole office. £1.6m will also be used to get the Personal Best volunteer programme to the remaining boroughs. Linked to the Olympics, it aims to help 7,000 Londoners get their first qualifications. (Image / Herschell Hershey)
