Arrests At Tibet Protests

Free_Tibet_2Feb09.jpg While Chinese New Year celebrations went on yesterday, a rather less happy public gathering was taking place outside the Chinese Embassy in Portland Place. Five members of a Free Tibet protest group were arrested after vaulting the barriers in an attempt to approach Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao. Mr Wen is in London to talk economics with the UK government, and he's witnessed quite a lot of street action. Is any of it making an impact? Well, David Cameron says he raised human rights during a 45 minute chat, but Gordon Brown's sticking to the “further dialogue” line. (Image / nic0)
