The answer appears to be "no", at least judging by the number of skirmishes and injuries that the emergency services had to deal with during London's New Year's Eve fun. Between midnight and 4am on the 1st January, 1,761 calls were taken by the ambulance service, the highest number since 1999, with excessive boozing to blame for most. Luckily, the ever-present booze bus was on hand to mop up the mess. Elsewhere, police recorded a familiar London cocktail of stabbings, fights and, in Essex, an attempted murder. 110 people were arrested in total on the night. Happy New Year! (Image / Alex @ Faraway)
