A Bus for Boris: Part 4

With the judging for the new Routemaster design competition due mid-month, we thought we’d bring you one more of the 225 models put forward. We’ve already featured proposals from e21, Foster and Partners, and H4: now it is the turn of Paresh Chandegra, a designer from Ilford. Although his day job is at nbbj the implication is that he has entered the fray as an independent.

His bus is perhaps the most retro of the ones we’ve seen so far: actually, it’s rather endearingly old-fashioned looking, which should please the Routemaster’s dieharder fans. Its big selling point seems to be the onboard satnav technology deployed for the benefit of the punters. In other words, you will be able to see where you are and where you’re going. Which will be useful for tourists at least. This isn’t an immediately grabbing design (but this Londonista’s developed a girlie crush on the smiley bus anyway). What do you think of it?
