National Poetry Day brought some hitherto untapped talent to the surface yesterday in our Haikommute contest. We were particularly impressed with Palfrey's bookishness:
Head stuck in a book
Stations pass by unheeded
Forgot my stop again
Highfield's clement weather induced absent mindedness:
Beautiful morning
The sun shines warm and brightly
Door keys left inside
Halcyon Days evocation of the daily grind:
Tickets please! the cry
Of the conductor is now
Ringing in my ears
And Tom Williams' hungry tummy:
Walking into work
Borough market looks tasty
A breakfast detour
Congratulations and thanks to everyone who pitched in. Meaghan deserves a special mention as she wrote an entire 11 verse ode to Shepherds Bush but no gong because she totally ignored the rules. Commendations too to the erudite Londonistas whose writing talents continue to surprise us but who are ineligible for competitions. Sorry guys.
