Want some recognition for all that elbow bending at the bar? Well, head over to Jermyn Street’s Cavendish Hotel, sidle up to Lobby Bar and ask the bartender for the “Gold Medal”. Created by Cavendish’s head barman, Robert Gaggl, the “Gold Medal” – available now and through the rest of October – commemorates the Beijing Games and welcomes the Olympic Victory Parade on 16th of this month.

Combining Kahlua, Finnlandia Vodka, espresso and milk foam … as well as a little Goldschläger cinnamon schnapps with real flakes of 24 Carat gold leaf (fancy!), the cocktail is a luxurious number and a tasty one at that!. A cinnamon stick for a swizzle gives the drink an added edge.

The Cavendish’s Lobby Bar is just the place for sipping such a fine cocktail too. Its high-backed leather couches are super comfy, and the relaxed (yet sophisticated) atmo is hard to find round this part of town where one often must decide between too tony or too brash.

Go Team GB! Congratulations on all those medals. You deserve a drink.

I was wondering if someone had created an official Olympic cocktail yet! I think we'll probably see a number more popping up over the next four years. You'll need to start doing a collection of such recipes for when we're all planning our own Olympic parties :)

Yeah, it was inevitable. Still, Gaggl's mix is yummy (gimmick or not).

We'll do our best to keep you posted on any other Olympic drinks we come across.

Thanks!
Chris
