Battersea Dogs and Cats Home are doing it again; tugging at our heartstrings with a soppy face, melting brown eyes, greying fur and eager to please expression... yes, it's Neil Morrissey - him of Men Behaving Badly infamy - fronting the dogs home's latest adopt a dog campaign.

Morrissey led a mass dog walk at the weekend with his own cute rescue pup, Tiggy, to raise awareness of the tragic number of pooches that get abandoned at this time of year. Battersea saw 270 poor pups enter its haven over just 10 days at Christmas.

Their message is loud and clear. There are no bad dogs, just bad owners. If you're canine inclined, please go to a rescue centre rather than a pet shop or breeder. They don't even mind if you don't go to Battersea. It's all about the dogs, see? Wherever they may be.

So hooray for Neil Morrissey. How could you resist those puppy dog eyes?

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home have teamed up with other doggy charities and Pedigree dog food to raise £500,000 to help rescue dogs in the UK. You can lend a paw here.
