Apparently people aren't satisfied with enjoying the summer sunshine, getting out and about in the city and generally have a nice time. As The Evening Standard reported yesterday, "retail bosses believe shoppers are already turning their attention to what will be hanging from their Christmas trees". What better end to the summer?
It sounds like Santa and the Elves are trying to expand their job descriptions. Today Harrods opens its 10,000 square foot "Christmas World" department, with Selfridges opening their equivalent on Thursday.

It gets worse. "I can see a time when we offer a collection throughout the year," said Geraldine James, the store's Christmas and gifts buyer.
