Crowds of angry young people clad in black will descend like bats from the musty corners of a tumbledown gothic cathedral on The Brewery in the East End tomorrow night. No, it's not yet another Goth club night - make way for the Kerrang! Awards 2006.
Touted by the magazine as being "the most debauched rock 'n' roll event of the year", expect sordid tales of excess the next morning as boys and girls bat their mascara-soaked lashes at each other through an absinthe-induced fog.
But it's not just about the drinking. The truly fantastic Muse are up for awards in 5 categories: 'Best Live Band', 'Best Single' and 'Best Video' (for 'Supermassive Black Hole'), 'Best Album' and 'Best British Band'. There's "stiff competition from Dragonforce and Bullet for My Valentine in the Best Live Band category", apparently, and a plethora of emo metallers vying for the other accolades.
The amazingly named 'Best Band On The Planet' category will be fought out between My Chemical Romance, Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold, HIM, Lacuna Coil and Fall Out Boy.
