The Exhibition Road Music Day takes place tomorrow on (surprise!) Exhibition Road in South Kensington, the cultural saturation point of London that counts the Victoria & Albert Museum, Natural History Museum, Institut Francais, Goethe-Institut and Imperial College among its local businesses.

Starting at 10.00am and going on until midnight or whenever the fat lady stops singing, this free event will feature a dizzying array of musical mayhem from across the world. The Music Day promotional literature breathlessly promises all things melodic "...from English brass bands to Iranian ensembles, from Japanese traditional music to French Nouvelle Chanson and from German DJs to Latin American samba. Whatever your own musical taste, there will be something for you." So head that way tomorrow to test that theory.

The Exhibition Road Music Day participating venues are the following heavy-hitting cultural spaces: Goethe-Institut, Imperial College London, Institut français, Ismaili Centre, Kensington Gardens, Natural History Museum, Royal Albert Hall, Royal College of Music and the Victoria & Albert Museum. Among the indoor and outdoor performances, there will also be the chance to take part in workshops where you may get given a triangle to tinkle or the chance to yodel with a Mongolian throat-singer or learn the French and German for "stop that bloody racket" at one of the drop-in language workshops. The Exhibition Road Music Day is part of FĂȘte de la Musique, an international event that takes place on 21 June in more than 120 countries and 250 cities. You therefore won't be alone if you decide to lead the dancing or get carried away with the clapping along to the Zone One Brass Band.

The Exhibition Road Music Day, Wednesday 21st June, 10.00am to midnight, nearest tube South Kensington. All events are free, some events are only open to school groups. Check the programme on The Exhibition Road Music Day website here to make sure you're in the right place at the right time.
