A two-minute silence is to be held on 7 July to mark the first anniversary of the London bombings that killed 52 people, Tessa Jowell has announced. The national silence, at noon, is to be followed by a memorial event in the capital's Regent's Park. The culture secretary also announced plans for a permanent memorial to be built in Tavistock Square, where one of the four bombs exploded on a bus. The memorial is to be designed in consultation with victims' families.
