In the end, the most striking feature from last night's elections across the country (outside of London) was the lunacy of rubbish electoral systems discarding 100,000 votes due to confused voters. That would obviously never happen in London. Fortunately, no such problem in the much-anticipated results of our own home-grown little Westminster by-election. Well I think enough of the Londonist staff have sufficiently recovered from last night to try and make a bit of sense of what actually happened in the capital. So here we go. Overall turnout was up 3% on 2001 with 58.2% of us bothering to get out there and vote.
