The Germaniaxx Isn't the weather glorious? Stand in the sunshine and it's definitely spring. This makes us happy! This means that we can walk in the park and get about town and not feel miserably wintry and therefore desperate to waste our hard earned on firelit pubs and woolly accessory buying. Well, not quite so much. We are, however, saving up our cash to spend on Creme Eggs and the rebuild Camden Market fund so......

Part 1: Introduction Mods. Rockers. Teds. Punks. Ravers. Swingers. Skinheads. Suedeheads. Hippies. Yuppies. Rudeboys. Indie kids. Emo kids. Beats. Glam kids. Tribes. Subcultures. Neo-tribes. Groups. Bands. Movements. All of the above, and more, have - despite their points of origin - been magnetically attracted to the capital. To attempt to cover all of the ages of London’s youth might seem an exhausting task worthy of Peter Ackroyd who wrote of his biography of London......

We love BBC America's anglophenia because it's always interesting to see what the other side of the pond thinks about the happenings in our own little goldfish bowl. This post, however, tackled a more serious subject than the usual pop culture geography when anglophenia popped over here for a visit: The next 20 minutes or so I spent were both familiar and frustrating. I stood alongside Shaftesbury Avenue with my arm extended nearly vertically,......

Are there really any Star Wars fans left after the last trilogy of bowel movements? Apparently enough to warrant something called Star Wars Celebration Europe. To be held in quadrant OU812 of the Fanboydra System aka ExCeL London at Canary Wharf. To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars, Lucasfilm Ltd. and The Cards Inc Group will throw Europe’s largest Star Wars party ever! Taking over ExCeL London in July 2007 for 3 days......

This week's films share the common theme of having pissed off the leaders of the countries in which they were made. Offside has been banned in Iran (well, what hasn't been?) and Secuestro Express has but a bee in the bonnet of everyone's favourite smiling authoritarian leader, Hugo Chavez. We can't confirm whether RV has annoyed GW but judging by the reviews, it's not very good. Mind you, we don't suppose GW's favourite films......

This week marks the start of the new Big Brother (Thur 9pm C4). We're fairly sure this will split our readership (hello, Mrs Trellis of North Wales) right down the middle; BB is a love-it-or-hate-it proposition. TV Troll hated it until undergoing a Damascene conversion last year, so we understand both sides of the relationship with Endemol's postmodern, controversial show. Those on the "it's a sign of the End Times" bandwagon will be utterly......

The Baker Street Planetarium is to close. Then reopen as a history of celebrities. If ever there were a sign of the times… Space is not something the capital does well. This Londonista remembers, as a child, being enthralled by the Science Museum’s space gallery. The model rockets, the lifesize lunar module replica, the space food. The actual capsule used by the Apollo 10 crew to fly to the moon and back (and that......

It has become something of a truism in recent years to observe that video games are turning into movies about as fast as movies are turning into video games. (Can a movie based on a video game based on a movie based on a video game be far behind?) Some might use this phenomena as evidence for the final death of literate pop culture or the impoverished imaginations of both filmmakers and video game......

Remember the male member of the Eurythmics? Remember the co-founder of Microsoft? Did you know they founded The Hospital, a "private members' club in central London that is developing an environment and services for creative and like-minded people to work, collaborate and play"? Well, you know now and on in the gallery space of their club is an exhibition entitled "Anyone else isn't you" by Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard. (Who also keep a......
