London cancer patients and their families have one more resource at the ready to help them cope -- the Maggie's cancer care centre at Charing Cross Hospital in Hammersmith. Designed to fill in where traditional hospitals fall short, the Maggie's centre will give free information and support to those affected by cancer -- specifically much-needed psychological help for patients and their families. They're able to offer help for free through partnerships with local NHS Trusts.......

Londonist is going new column crazy this week. Yesterday we inroduced 'our man in Westminster' and today we can reveal a whole bevy of restaurant reviewers with our 'Table of Four' column. Everyone knows that eating out on your own is no fun, so we thought that having just one restaurant reviewer was a little daft. Which is why Londonist has gone and recruited itself four young ladies to go out and assess and......

Yes it's street party time again because London has been announced as the official venue for the 2005 World Scrabble Championships. We can tell you're excited really. Next month this prestigious and highly prized title will be fought over at the Marriott Regent's Park Hotel, with entrants travelling from every corner of the globe to 'clash tiles'. The reigning champ' is 19 year old Panupol Sujjayakorn (there's a triple word score right there!) from......

Long live reality TV! Without it, this week’s schedules would look worryingly barren – aside from must-see telly like Nip/Tuck (22.50/23.50 Wed C4) and Scrubs (20.00 Fri C4), all the high points of the week’s programming are derived from members of the public making fuckwits of themselves. Also, the Channel 4 scheduler who decided that Nip/Tuck was best shown when most non-insomniacs have gone to bed clearly needs to cut down on the Colombian......

Londonist has been preparing Christmas dinner for our family for several years now, so we like to think we're a dab hand in the kitchen. (It also gives us plenty of scope for ogling Nigella without feeling too guilty.) We usually prefer Nigel Slater's approach to cooking, which is pitched somewhere between Jamie Oliver and Nigella Lawson. Whereas Oliver can come across as a bit too cheffy (despite the supposed 'nakedness' of his cooking)......

Remember when it was announced that Kirstie Allsop would be doing guided tours of the Tate Gallery, and we said, "What next? Nigella Lawson presents the Christmas Lectures?" Well we were nearly right. Because tomorrow night you can find Nigella at Somerset House, as a guest of the Royal Society of Literature. Nigella will be in conversation with Frederic Raphael (a "novelist, biographer, playwright and polymath" but best known for writing the screenplay to......

Television's Kirsty Allsopp, property transition guru and ambassador for wearers of strangely coloured tights everywhere, has landed herself a job at Tate Britain. Initial reports that Kirsty had fallen on hard times and had been employed by the gallery as a security guard are, it turns out, untrue. Far from sitting on a chair in the corner of a rooom looking bored and occasionally glowering at small children, Kirsty is to give a series......

At what age do you think Maurice Saatchi sold his soul to the devil? After all this is a man who, not content with being the mastermind behind of one of the country's largest advertising agencies, decided that he'd take on the joint-chairmanship of the Conservative Party. It's like he sat down one night and made an evil 'to do' list. In fact Londonist wouldn't be surprised to see Maurice on the streets of......
