It's been a strange ol' week for Londonist music-wise. On Monday we got worried about a rise in nightclub violence, on Tuesday caught Goldfrapp at Union Chapel, on Wednesday caught Nick Cave at HMV and on Thursday got excited about a new-ish club night at Three Blind Mice. Looking ahead to this week however, Monday sees Panic At the Disco and Kate Nash play sold out shows at the Roundhouse and Hammersmith Apollo respectively, whilst......

It seems summer is officially over now (though it seems to have never properly arrived really…), and with that the early autumn tours start to make an appearance. First on Monday night are two bands that are playing at this weekend’s Connect festival, Modest Mouse and the Polyphonic Spree. American band Modest Mouse play the Forum, with standing tickets sold out, but still with seats available at £18.50 each. The Spree brings their triumphant show......

Busy week for music as bands start to warm up for the massive festival known as Glastonbury next weekend. Monday night sees Pearl Jam grace Wembley Arena, with support coming more than ably from the brilliant Idlewild. "We shall rouse you from your slumber. And you're going to love it," writes the bespectacled one on the South Bank website.......

Wednesday: Well if you've not made plans for tonight yet you could head down to the Garage to check out San Fransican art pop punkers Deerhoof. Otherwise we suggest you kick off John Peel Day at the 12 Bar Club......

Londonist was saddened to hear via Metafilter that John Loder, owner of one of our favourite music labels Southern Records died over the weekend. The news broke on his blog, the last post written by his daughter, Natasha: Earlier this morning, at 12.40am, my father died peacefully at the National Institute for Neurology, near Russell Square in London. My partner Bruce held his hand througout and I stroked his head and talked to him.......
