It's been a strange ol' week for Londonist music-wise. On Monday we got worried about a rise in nightclub violence, on Tuesday caught Goldfrapp at Union Chapel, on Wednesday caught Nick Cave at HMV and on Thursday got excited about a new-ish club night at Three Blind Mice. Looking ahead to this week however, Monday sees Panic At the Disco and Kate Nash play sold out shows at the Roundhouse and Hammersmith Apollo respectively, whilst......

Monday night sees Tom “Squarepusher” Jenkinson bring his experimental drum'n'bass with a heavy jazz fusion influence to Queen Elizabeth Hall in the Southbank Centre. Evan Parker supports, and this is sold out unfortunately, though be sure to check back for last minute availability or other sources. Lily Allen places her summer session at Somerset house, with support from Mark Ronson. Tickets are long gone, though Scarlet Mist may be useful for some. The Dykeenies bring......

As promised late last week we took the trip over to West London on Friday to see if DJ Shadow would keep his word and do a bit of a meet and greet at his label's office while playing a few tracks from the new album. As you may have already guessed from the picture above, Shadow was indeed present as were around 50 or so fans who were invited into the Universal building's......

On Friday, while on our way to see DJ Shadow over in West London (see above), we found ourselves seated opposite one of the Tube Challengers who were racing around Zone 1 (we could tell because he was wearing a sticker that said 'Tube Challenge.com' on it). The guy looked pretty frantic, scouring his Tube map, trying to calculate the shortest route, before jumping off at High Street Kensington and running off into the......

We always like to flag up the various free, secret or just downright weird gigs that occur in the capital from time to time, so as soon as we read the latest entry over at DJ Shadow's online diary we had to post the details up here: What's up everybody. The album's done. It's being mastered next week. In fact I'm presenting it to my label this friday in London. If anybody is in......

With a huge Glastonbury shaped hole in the calendar this year and the faint promise of warm weather lingering on the horizon, it's time for Festival Season to slip into Wacky Races mode. With T In The Park and V 2006 neck and neck out in front, and Download and Monsters of Rock, rapidly rolling out the big guns (Guns 'n' Roses at Download anyone?) in second place, the others are trailing far behind.......

Well, everybody else is doing it, so why can't we? Here we present Londonist's favourite music of 2004, along with pointers to other sites' lists. It might be worth bearing in mind if you're brave enough to visit the shops during the January Sales melee. Those of us who like to foist our tastes on our public should read this cautionary tale though: 'News for rock critics: no one is listening to you' Londonist -......
