The End of the Road festival in Dorset has made some firm fans for itself over the last couple of years. As a final teaser before the festival proper, the curators are hosting a gig right here in London at the intimate Bush Hall on Uxbridge Road on Wednesday night (30th July). Former Ash bassist Charlotte Hatherley headlines the gig and is worth the ticket price along with this being her only London date......

The big day has arrived! I couldn't be happier that never again in this country will I have to play a gig in a smoky room, but it is going to be interesting to see what side effects the new smoking ban has. Scaremongers are predicting that less people will go to gigs if they can't smoke and that the people who do go will keep going running during the performances to smoke. Now......

We introduced Charlotte Hatherley's new EP a few weeks ago and since then have been dancing round London listening to her 2nd album The Deep Blue. Lead single I Want You To Know is out in late February but until then myspace has a couple of things to keep you going. A Chiswick girl, we spoke to Charlotte about her music and good ol' London. You quit Ash last year, why did you want......

This is the new, rather rad, video from Charlotte Hatherley for her new single Behave which was released on download just before Christmas. In fact Londonist even ate some buttered muffins with Charlotte and talked about growing up in Chiswick and where her musical career is going just before the festival season. The chat involves choice quotes such as "Some of Stoke Newington could do with falling into the sea." When we stop being......

Back in a time before Charlotte from The Subways, the only Charlotte all our indie boy friends had eyes for was Charlotte Hatherley. Bounding about in Ash with a big bass guitar, she was all they wanted. Then Charlotte decided she'd had enough of playing around with boys and released one of the finest albums of 2004 with her debut solo record Grey Will Fade. Since then she's made us insanely jealous by being......

We've always had somewhat of an big girly crush on Simon Pegg. We loved Shaun of the Dead, and we think we've nearly worn out our Spaced DVDs. He makes us so weak at the knees, that when we once saw him at a Charlotte Hatherley gig at ULU, we were starstruck and unable to move, never mind attempt to say hello. So, it's with great excitement that today we read that he's finally......

Now that the Pop Kid, the Noisy one and the Club Londonista have all had their say, it falls to Ricky to throw in his two cents. For want of a better pseudonym, let's call him RiotRicky. More appropriate job titles on a postcard please, along with your pick of last year's music. Top Ten Singles: Bloc Party - Pioneers Green Day - Holiday The Eels - Hey Man (Now You're Really Living) Weezer......

After a comment yesterday saying Londonist was a bit biased towards being maybe too cool for school and rock focused with their top choices of the year, I say HOLD YOUR HORSES. It’s time for me. I'm sparkly, shiny and hate Coldplay, Keane, and the dreary sleep inducing song writers of 2005. No doubt I will get lots of comments telling me that most of my likes aren't proper music. Bite me. Top Ten......

Well, everybody else is doing it, so why can't we? Here we present Londonist's favourite music of 2004, along with pointers to other sites' lists. It might be worth bearing in mind if you're brave enough to visit the shops during the January Sales melee. Those of us who like to foist our tastes on our public should read this cautionary tale though: 'News for rock critics: no one is listening to you' Londonist -......
