Reports from northwest London suggest a strange kind of vandalism is afoot. According to Harrow Council, £15,000 worth of drain covers have been pinched from Pinner and South Harrow over the past fortnight. Some kind of performance art, you might speculate? Could be, although the cast-iron gully grates (which often date back to the time the roads were built) are highly sought-after by unscrupulous metal merchants. With scrap iron fetching a pretty price of......

It seems summer is officially over now (though it seems to have never properly arrived really…), and with that the early autumn tours start to make an appearance. First on Monday night are two bands that are playing at this weekend’s Connect festival, Modest Mouse and the Polyphonic Spree. American band Modest Mouse play the Forum, with standing tickets sold out, but still with seats available at £18.50 each. The Spree brings their triumphant show......

For most of you, it was pay day this weekend. Wahey! This also means if you're like us, you've spent all your cash in the pub and will now be eating beans on toast all week. Which after going to The Edinboro Castle and having spent so long at the bar you sobered up, doesn't really seem worth the effort any more, does it? But don't worry! All is going to be fine. Even......

Busy week for presales with everyone announcing their autumn tours. All tickets are on sale on Friday at 9am, unless otherwise stated. Klaxons are finishing off a triumphant year with a date at Brixton Academy on Wednesday 5th December, though expect more dates to be added quickly. They sold out four nights at Brixton earlier this year, now those mad Canadians known as Arcade Fire have announced a date at Alexandra Palace on Saturday November......

Snow Patrol announce a one off date at the new O2 Arena on Thursday 28th June, with tickets costing £25 each. Expect them to go very quickly when they go on sale at 9am on Friday. Got a few hundred sat in the bank not doing anything? Did you miss out on getting Barbara Streisand tickets? Don't worry.......

This week - A swashbuckling adventure sequel (Pirates of the Caribbean 2 : Dead Man's Chest), a futuristic crime movie featuring 'le parkour' (District 13) and a Beastie Boys concert film with a hilarious title (Awesome; I Fuckin' Shot That!) First up, Pirates of the Caribbean 2 : Dead Man's Chest. The Guardian, Times and Independent all award it three stars. It is individual performances that lift this film. Of course, the wonderful Johnny......

Anyone who's ever idly channel-hopped the digital channels of a late night will sooner or later stumble across a programme which purports to be a documentary but in reality is a simple excuse to show some people having anything other than vanilla sex. Sit through enough repeats and you will go blind encounter a character by the name of George McCoy. McCoy is responsible for a guide to the oldest profession as practised in......

This weekend see the start of another 'popular culture' exhibition at the Proud Gallery in Camden (the other one is on the Strand). Sometimes the Proud's exhibition schedule can maybe look a little 'fluffy' against some of the capital's more heavyweight contenders. But popular culture is what the Proud galleries do best, and their quality control is pretty good too. So if you can get over the fact that they're actually called the 'Sony......
