The DLR is getting 43 new trains, replacing two thirds of the existing fleet.
Trains will feature walk-through carriages, and are expected to increase capacity on the DLR by 30%, according to the Standard. The 30-year-old DLR network is expected to get busier when interchanges with the Elizabeth line Crossrail open in 2018.
Bidding has opened to find a manufacturer for the new trains.
The new fleet won't be introduced until 2022 — and it remains to be seen whether the new-style carriages will still have the same 'driver' style seats at the front of the carriages.
