TfL's to start trials this week of a new boarding system on London buses, to offer further protection from coronavirus to bus drivers.

The new system will see boarding via the middle doors only, the latest in a series of measures to protect both bus drivers and the critical workers using buses — steps already taken include an extra layer being added to the clear screen separating the drivers' section, to supplement the barrier.

The limited trial begins this week on several Abellio routes running out of Walworth bus garage, two of which are routes serving hospitals.

The transport network continues to run to meet the travel needs of critical workers — and TfL's message is that the best way for all other Londoners to protect the themselves and each other is to remember: 'stay home, don't travel, save lives'.
