Support Great Ormond Street Hospital - By Climbing The Walkie Talkie!

This is a sponsored article in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity.

New Year's Resolution to improve your fitness, or do more for charity? Want to put that pedometer you got from your Secret Santa to good use? Well, here's a unique way to get your steps in: sprint, jog, or walk your way to the top of an iconic London skyscraper, while raising money for a fantastic cause. This is the Walkie Talkie Tower Climb 2024.

On Saturday 16 March, you're invited to climb up all 36 floors of 20 Fenchurch Street — AKA, the Walkie Talkie building — in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSH Charity).

GOSH Charity supports Great Ormond Street Hospital's (GOSH) most urgent needs, to help them provide life-changing care for seriously ill children. Each Walkie Talkie climber is encouraged to set a fundraising pledge of £250, to support GOSH Charity in their four key funding areas: groundbreaking research into treatment for children, advanced medical equipment,  vital support services for children and their families, and the essential rebuilding and refurbishment of the hospital.

Frankly, we can't think of better motivation to get you from street level to summit!

Here's something else to make all that huffing and puffing worth your while: after you climb your 896th stair, you'll be rewarded with stunning 360º city views.

At the top of 20 Fenchurch Street is the Sky Garden: a plant-filled oasis that boasts the title of London’s highest public garden. Here, you can enjoy a free celebratory drink (there are two bars for further refreshments), and get your hands on a well-deserved medal.

On top of your fundraising pledge, you're also asked to pay a registration fee, to help cover the cost of putting on the event. Usually, this costs £25 but right now our readers can get 50% off. Just enter the code NY50 at checkout by 31 January 2024 to redeem.

Once you've registered, your race pack will be sent to you by post. This includes a free technical t-shirt and a timing chip, so you can see how fast you zoom up the Walkie Talkie come event day (though no pressure to finish at a specific time — you're very much encouraged to take whatever pace you need!)
