Spirited Away is on at the West End for a limited run in spring 2024.

Following the runaway success of My Neighbour Totoro in London, the stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away is coming to the West End in 2024.

Spirited Away, which was released as a much-lauded animation in 2001, tells the story of Chihiro, a young girl who finds herself in a world full of strange, supernatural characters, where she's put to work in a magical bathhouse, and has to figure out how to escape and save her parents, who've been turned into pigs.

Two actors — Kanna Hashimoto and Mone Kamishiraishi — play the lead role of Chiro, on different days.

Featuring the cast of 2022's sell-out Japanese tour, the stage adaptation is coming to the London Coliseum in April 2024, for a limited 12-week run. It'll be performed in Japanese, with English surtitles, and scored with the original film soundtrack by a live orchestra. The stage show's director, John Caird said "I’m so happy now to be spiriting away a British audience into Hayao Miyazaki's magical world. A world of gods and frogs, dragons and sorcerers, giant-sized babies and bouncing heads, spider-armed boilermen, no-faced loners and a young girl’s valiant quest for courage, identity and love."
