Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies appears for a live version of Desert Island Discs on 27 March.

Long-running BBC Radio 4 radio programme Desert Island Discs is coming to the stage for the first time.

Celebrating 80 years of the show — in which celebrity guests choose the eight records they'd have with them if they were cast away — Desert Island Discs: The Live Show comes to the London Palladium for three nights this March, hosted by current presenter, Lauren Laverne. The shows are as follows:

  • 25 March: Katherine Ryan and Sue Perkins
  • 26 March: Lemn Sissay and Dara O'Briain
  • 27 March: Russell T Davies and Ellie Simmons
Lauren Laverne
The show's current presenter, Lauren Laverne, will host the three live shows.

Each of the shows will also feature a final special guest, as yet unannounced. The show promises 'unique insights from both sides of the microphone, behind the scenes stories, fascinating moments from Desert Island Discs history, and of course plenty of music'. Regular listeners of the show will recognise that all of the live guests have already appeared on the radio show — so it'll be interesting to see if they have different things to say this time around, and perhaps choose some different tracks, too.
