There's a chance to glimpse the lesser-spotted David Attenborough at Madame Tussauds from 20 October — when a new waxwork of the naturalist TV presenter lands at the Baker Street attraction.
Wearing his trademark short sleeve pale blue shirt and cream chinos, Attenborough is likely to be a big hit with visitors, although it's not the first time he's been on show here. The conservationist unveiled a waxwork of himself at London's Madame Tussauds in 1992, where it stood for a while in the 'Garden Party' section of the attraction, which, as we seem to remember, was inhabited by the likes of Dudley Moore and Joanna Lumley at the time. For this effort, the 97-year-old Planet Earth presenter wasn't so involved — his likeness being created using hundreds of reference photographs and hours of footage.
Preview photos (above) of Attenborough were taken in the Barbican's brutalist conservatory, but in Madame Tussauds it'll line up in a kind of 'Best of Britain' section, alongside folks including Emmeline Pankhurst, Stormzy, William Shakespeare and Princess Diana.
A BBC Earth Experience, narrated by Attenborough runs at Earl's Court until January 2024.
