Free pasta? Yes please!

Pasta-related tube stations Farfallingdon (Farringdon), Claphamellini (Clapham Junction), Fusilli (Fulham Broadway), Tootelloni (Tooting) and Camdenlloni Town (Camden Town) are the places to head between 11.30am-1.30pm, to claim one of 1,000 free portions being given away, including carbonara, beef shin ragu, spicy arrabbiata, and wild mushroom pasta. Dine at the Play-Doh Restaurant

A mock-up of what the Play-Doh restaurant will look like
This Play-Doh restaurant should appeal to fussy eaters.

A Play-Doh restaurant doesn't sound appetising on first glance, but we're assured the food takes the form of pizza, pasta, fruit and donuts rather than the squishy toy dough.

Book your spot in advance to take your family along for a free meal at the one-day pop-up in Cambridge Heath. It's aimed at parents who struggle with children who are picky eaters. The idea is that they can choose what's for dinner, and create a (non-edible) version of it out of Play-Doh in the play kitchen, while a team of real chefs in a real kitchen cooks up your edible dinner.

Free, 27 October.

Let off steam at one of London's fantastic free playgrounds

Parents and carers will be well aware that it's half term this week — and it can be expensive to keep kids entertained while school's out. We've got our guide to half term events and activities, which includes some free things to do, but if the weather's on your side, why not take it back to basics and visit some of London's playgrounds? We've mapped all of the ones we know about in central London — and our own little Londonists have tested out several of them.
