If you're of the opinion that nothing says 'Christmas' like a hulking great lorry, we've got great news for you — the Coca-Cola truck is going on tour again this year.
The roaring red truck has six 'London' dates on its tour this year — although it relies on a fairly flexible definition of 'London'. The O2 Arena in Greenwich is obviously acceptable (this is the most central London location this year, despite publicity photos showing the truck parked up next to Tower Bridge). UPDATE: The Greenwich stop has been cancelled.
Sainsbury's in Beckton and Asda in Leyton also get our approval. But trying to pass Watford, Basildon and Lakeside shopping centre off as 'London' is pushing even our flexible boundary of the capital. Someone buy the Coca-Cola marketing team a map.
Anyway, geography aside, here's what you need to know. The truck parks up in a 'snowy winter wonderland' from 12pm each day, with last entry to the queue at 7pm. Roll up, take your Instagram snaps of the truck, and get a free mini can of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar. For every can recycled in dedicated bins at the truck stop, Coca-Cola donates 10p to homelessness charity Shelter.
At certain stops you'll also be able to buy glass Coca-Cola bottles and have them personalised with a name of your choice.
Here's when and where you can see it in London:
- Tuesday 3 December: Asda, Leyton Mill, London, E10 5NH
- Tuesday 10 December: Sainsbury’s Beckton, London, E6 6JF
- Sunday 15 December: O2 Arena, London, SE10 0DX This stop has now been cancelled.
Keep an eye on the Coca-Cola website for further details.
