Ever come across a bean weevil? Know what a cadfly is? Next week is your chance to learn — it's Insect Week and ZSL London Zoo wants you to get to know your tiniest neighbours.
A new photography exhibition, Bugs In Depth, is unveiled in the zoo's BUGS (Biodiversity Underpinning Global Survival) house. Visitors can pop on a pair of 3D specs and see close-ups of some of the insect world's weirder residents. Scientific artist Alan Shaw has taken the photos.
Elsewhere, hissing cockroaches, praying mantises and stick insects will be making guest appearances at the Megabugs LIVE talks throughout the week.
If bugs and creepy crawlies aren't your thing, head over to the zoo's permanent butterfly house, Butterfly Paradise to see the winged beauties fluttering around you. It gets pretty humid in there, but it's worth it to see butterflies from South-East Asia, Central and South America and East Africa close up.
Insect Week takes place 20-26 June. All activities are included in zoo entry price, booking zoo tickets in advance is recommended.
