Road Closed To Traffic For South London Street Party

Balham's Ritherdon Road Street Party is bigger than ever this year, with the road being closed to traffic for the first time in the event's history.

About 50 stalls will pack the road for the one-day event this weekend, selling everything from jewellery to clothes to handmade toys to pet treats.

Food and drink feature heavily, with stalls selling Vietnamese street food, ice cream, crêpes, halloumi, chilli dogs and hog roasts. A craft beer tent will also be pitched up. It's all looking very tasty.

Also new this year is a full music stage, featuring The Thumping Tommys, Tony Bowen and The Balham Ukulele Society, among others.

Kids are well catered for with a funfair ride, bubbles, balloons, and entertainment from The Ministry of Giggles.

Ritherdon Road Street Party takes place 22 May, 11am-5pm and is free to visit. Follow the festival on Facebook or Twitter for updates.
