This Year's Auction Against Hunger Promises To Be The Best Yet
Chef Nuno Mendes is collaborating with Breddo's Tacos for Auction Against Hunger.

Auction Against Hunger returns for the fourth year running on 26 May, with tickets going on sale today at 11am.

The event is a collaboration between Action Against Hunger (AAH) and Street Feast, who together are bringing the world’s greatest menu to London for one night only. The aim of the dinner is to raise as much money as possible for the AAH charity, which is committed to ending child hunger.

17 of London’s best chefs will cook courses at the meal, adding up to a very special, one of a kind experience.

Neil Rankin, chef and 'food boss' at London Union, is a year round supporter of AAH. We asked him what we can expect from him on the night:

"I’m cooking alongside Lee Tiernan from Black Axe Mangal. We’re still deciding what our dish will be — we’re thinking our own take on a Pot Noodle or Cup-a-Soup, something quick to serve but packed with flavour."

When asked what inspired the dish he explains, "we just want to do something fun and different. There are some fantastic dishes on the Auction Against Hunger menu and one of the best things about the event is the chance to try loads of different dishes from some of Britain’s best chefs and street food traders — we want ours to stand out."

Rankin is most excited about trying the course from Breddo’s tacos however, "Breddos (who do modern Mexican tacos and tostadas) are teaming up with Nuno Mendes to create two dishes — pork tacos with pecan mole and bay leaf yoghurt and tamale verde de cerdo y pipian. I'm looking forward to trying both. Nuno and Breddos together will make a cracking collaboration."

The event will be a really unique opportunity to taste the cooking that makes London the best city in the world for food right now.

Hawker House is home to some of London's best street food.

The list of participating chefs includes: Francesco Mazzei, Hamish Brown, Jack Stein, James Lowe, Jose Pizarro, Lee Tiernan, Neil Rankin, Nieves Barragán-Mohacho, Nuno Mendes, Robin Gill and Shaun Searley and street food traders such as B.O.B.'s Lobster, Born & Raised, Breddos, Rola Wala, Smokestak, and Yum Bun.

As well as a silent auction throughout the evening, guests can bid on experiences in a live auction hosted by Christie's. Some of the lots include a dinner cooked at your house by The River Café, a £1,000 Rum Bash in the House of Bamboo for you and up to 20 friends, a sake dinner at Shackfuyu for 14 people hosted by Ross Shonhan and an eight-course tasting menu for 10 people at Hakkasan, hosted by Chef Tong in their private dining room. An online auction will also take place on the Hot Dinners website in the weeks running up to the event.

Over the past three years, Auction Against Hunger has raised over £320,000 to help support AAH's work saving the lives of malnourished children and providing families with access to safe water and good nutrition.

Tickets to this year's include entry to the event, six dishes from the menu and drinks from Kamm & Sons, Sipsmith Gin and Wondering Wine Company, amongst others. All proceeds from ticket sales go directly to the charity.

Tickets are £60 per person and go on sale today, 17 March 2016 at 11am. Click here to buy tickets.
