Waterloo station is full of people rushing from train to tube, and vice versa. But how many of those people stop to look up at the balcony? It's the perfect place for people watching.

Now the balcony at Waterloo station has got a lot nicer, as for the second year running it's playing host to the shortlist and winners of the Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards exhibition.

Expect to see the best of landscape photography from across the UK and some great shots of London, including those in this article. The competition used to be in the foyer of the National Theatre and though we're not entirely sold on the new venue — it's a chilly one to be standing around in during winter months — it's great that so many people will get to see what is always a wonderful collection of images.
