LONDON FOLK FESTIVAL:
Hear the best unsigned and emerging artists of the folk world at The Bedford in Balham. To celebrate 4 July, this year's theme is Country/Americana. Doors open at 7pm on 2-4 July, and at 12pm on 5 July

AFRICA WRITES:
Discover writers from Africa and its diaspora at the Royal African Society's literary festival held at the British Library. The weekend includes book launches, readings, workshops and activities for children. Free, 3-5 July

FOODIES FESTIVAL:
Satisfy your taste buds at Alexandra Palace for a three-day feast featuring culinary delights from around the world, includes tasting theatres, artisan producers, and you can pick up tips from celebrity chefs — all accompanied by live entertainment. Prebook, 3-5 July

WATERLOO CARNIVAL:
The carnival procession begins at Tanswell Street — expect face painting, storytelling, Cuban street food and live music. Don't forget to come dressed as your favourite myth/legend. 1.30pm

SUNSET SAFARI:
Take a self-guided tour around London Zoo, join the animals at feeding time, and find out more about the 750 plus species housed at the zoo. Wind down the evening with an acoustic performance at sunset. Prebook, 6pm

WELLCOME COLLECTION LATE:
Set your inner child free on Friday night with giant board games, digital and virtual games. There will also be a chance to hear from experts in science, culture and of course gaming. Prebook, 7pm-11pm

COMEDY CARNIVAL:
Head to Bar Rumba for an award-winning selection of comedians from around the world. Tonight's line up features Patrick Monahan, Josh Howie, Chris Martin and Pete Jonas. £12, 7pm

Join in with the performers to help produce a play based on the day's newspaper stories. At Deptford Lounge. Pay-what-you-like, 7.30pm

OPTICAL DELUSION:
