Easter Weekend Fun With Shaun The Sheep At Kew Gardens

Children go free to the Gardens and while adults relax and enjoy the magnificent springtime displays of crocuses, daffodils, tulips and magnolias, the little ones can get stuck in with a selection of Shaun the Sheep-themed activities.

This Sunday 5 April from 9.30am, join Shaun and his friends for Kew’s annual Easter Egg Hunt. Keen-eyed explorers should be on the lookout for three of Kew’s flock and collect a token from each one. Three tokens and it’s off to find the Easter bunny to claim your very own chocolate eggs.

Across the entire bank holiday weekend, Kew’s Craft Caravan is in situ near White Peaks Cafe and Shop where nifty fingers can get crafty and make their own pom pom sheep. Or enjoy a tasty masterclass on Georgian Cookery at Kew Palace’s Royal Kitchens — just drop in on the Royal Chefs between 4-6 April who will be creating a chocolate feast from traditional Georgian recipes. Blancmange, custard, creams and tarts are all on the menu.

If your coco quota still isn’t maxed out, make sure you prebook for a half-hour chocolate workshop. Baa to Bean sees experts in the field engage visitors in the different stages of the chocolate making process. And yes, you do get to take home your very own pack of Columbian chocolate at the end!

Walk off the indulgence with a visit to Kew’s own flock of South Downs sheep, who are visiting the Gardens especially for Easter from Wakehurst — Kew’s sister site. Then flock to Shaun’s Madcap Meadow nearby, where energetic visitors can try their hand at Wellie Wanging, make their way around the Sheep Hopper Maze, create a musical masterpiece at the Vegetable Orchestra or get stuck in to Bitzer’s Sheepdog Trials.

Springtime trails, face painting and guided tours finish off the Easter egg-stravagance (terrible pun, we know). And don’t forget to pick up a hot cross bun from any of the Garden's catering outlets before you leave.

Shaun the Sheep at Kew Gardens is taking place from 28 March-12 April 2015. Under 16s go free to Kew Gardens (adults tickets cost £15).
