What: Roddy Doyle's best selling novel, The Commitments, has been adapted into a multi-million pound stage musical packed full of soul. It has been playing to audiences at the Palace Theatre since 2013.
Why: The Commitments is the story of band manager Jimmy Rabbitte and a group of weedy but passionate aspiring musicians. They may not immediately have the soulful punch of Aretha Franklin and Otis Reading, but they have the commitment, and are hell-bent on heading up an Irish soul revolution. Expect numbers such as "Mustang Sally", "I Heard It Through The Grapvine" and "In The Midnight Hour".
