If that's a wall of water we wouldn't like to be on a boat going underneath.

How do you fancy one of these across the Thames? They're some of the designs sent in to the competition for a new pedestrian and cycle bridge linking Nine Elms and Pimlico. Some are perhaps more practical than others, and we're curious to see that one will also transport anyone who uses it back to the Edwardian era, while still another has snuck in a cheeky Zeppelin.

74 professional design teams from around the world submitted designs and you can see them in two exhibitions this week (Westminster Boating Base, 136 Grosvenor Road, today until 7pm and Tuesday 9am-7pm; ROSE Centre, Ascalon Street, Friday 27 February 1pm-7pm and Saturday 28 February 10am-6pm). All designs are currently been displayed anonymously so you can have fun wondering which of the usual suspects submitted what. In March, a jury panel will draw up a shortlist of up to four to go through to the next stage and the winner will be announced on 24 July 2015.

You can see all the designs submitted on the bridge's competition website.
