Wanted: Short Stories About London At Night

Hello budding writers. We're launching the next theme of our London Short Fiction series, and we want YOUR stories to feature.

As the nights are drawing in, we thought we'd go with the theme of London At Night. We're pretty laid-back with how you want to interpret this, and your night-time story can take place any time of the year. All that we ask is that night-time in London is a recognisable component of your story.

Hopefully our theme has already sparked images of moonlit Mayfairs, highwaymen lurking in Highgate shadows, fireworks fizzing over Fulham and chowing down on kebabs in Kentish Town. But if you fancy a further feast of inspiration, check out stories that Londonist readers have previously had published.

Here are the rules in full:

1) Stories must be no more than 1,000 words.
2) Stories must be set in London, or heavily influenced by the city in some way.
3) We don’t just want an interesting scenario — the piece also has to be well written, with believable characters.
4) Send entries to fiction@londonist.com
5) You get to keep full copyright.
6) We’ll run the theme over the next few weeks, so get your story in ASAP for consideration.

We can't wait to get stuck into your depictions of London at Night. Good luck!
