London's newest park celebrates the arrival of the Queen's Baton Relay this weekend, ahead of the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, with a free all-day Festival of Sport.

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will be buzzing from 9.30am on Sunday 8 June with a range of activities for beginners and experienced sportspeople alike. Visitors can take part in 30 different sports and activities throughout the day, including football, frisbee, fitness boot camps, dance workshops, wrestling, volleyball and mini-cricket (see the full list here).

If that doesn’t tucker you out then Motivate East, a local sports participation project for disabled people, will run wheelchair basketball sessions for all. Boxing legend Barry McGuigan leads the BMBA Guinness World Record Attempt for the greatest number of non-contact punches thrown by the general public.

Street food pop-ups provide some much-needed energy while promises of a 'big dance bus' and 'bouncy cave' have piqued our curiosity.

Those who enjoy a slower pace of life can enjoy the 560 acres of parkland, interactive walking trails and 6.5km of waterways to explore around the recently reopened park. Picnics are also welcome, for those wanting to spend less time on their feet and a bit more on their bums.

The 12 Londoners chosen as baton-bearers were nominated for their contributions to their communities in the areas of youth politics, coaching, education and community sports initiatives. So give them a big cheer as you see them carrying the Queen’s Baton around the festivities, and join in celebrating the arrival of the Relay in the new home of London sport.

Festival of Sport takes place at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Sunday 8 June 2014, 9.30am-5pm. It is free of charge. For more details, please visit the website.

The Commonwealth Games takes place from 23 July to 3 August 2014 in Glasgow. Please see here more details.
