Food Festivals In Clapham And Streatham This Weekend

Streatham Food Festival is in its fifth year.

Food lovers of London will be heading south of the river en-masse this weekend, as food festivals take place in Clapham and Streatham.

Fresh from Kenwood House last weekend, Foodies Festival returns to Clapham Common on Friday for a weekend of edible goodness. The usual stalls, demonstrations and children's activities take place, with some additions for this year. The Vintage Tea Tent will hold daily tea dances, and kitchen and homeware items with a vintage theme will be available to buy.

Like hot stuff? The Chilli Food Market has producers of all things hot and spicy exhibiting and selling their products. If you're feeling extra brave, there's a Chilli Eating Challenge at 5pm every day of the festival.

Just down the road in Streatham, similar foodie activities are taking place. The popular Streatham Food Tour takes place from Thursday night to Saturday. 29 restaurants in the area will be offering sample dishes costing between £1.50 and £5, with cuisines as diverse as Lebanese, Nigerian and Japanese on offer, giving food tourists a chance to literally eat their way around town. Plan your route and budget here, and prepare your stomach accordingly.

Sweet-toothed Streathamites should pay special attention to the Saturday programme as there's a bake-off, strawberry afternoon tea, and vegan cakes on offer.

The Streatham Food Festival culminates on Sunday with the Food Fair on Streatham Green. Local food will be celebrated in the form of cooking demonstrations, talks and advice about food, live music and children's activities.

Clapham Foodies Festival takes place 6-8 June. Tickets, from £12, are available here.

Streatham Food Festival takes place 5-8 June. Entry is free but there is a charge for dishes on the Food Tour.
