Tuesday 18 February

The Turning, Borderline, Soho

https://soundcloud.com/theturningofficial/stand-clear-of-my-mind

This is the band's latest single. The Turning are a four-piece Mod/Indie band based in London who only formed last year. That hasn't stopped they creating some fantastic tracks like the one above. Event Details

Wednesday 19 February

Arthur Rigby & the Baskervylles, Slaughtered Lamb, Clerkenwell

https://soundcloud.com/arthurrigby/moonlit-strangers

This is such a talented band. It's good to see them playing in such a suitably intimate venue. They released an EP last year called 'Tales From Pegasus Wood' and they have just come back from a national tour. Event Details

Emperor Yes, Bar Fly, Camden

Not your average indie band — they have their own beer and seem utterly obsessed with history, with Ash from the band working on his own historical timeline starting at 50,000 BC. Definitely different. They also released their last single on cassette tape. Event Details

Thursday 20 February

Police Dog Hogan, Bush Hall, Shepherd's Bush

https://soundcloud.com/fromthelandofmiracles/matilda

This band recently signed to the 'Union Music Store' label. This is their last gig for a while before they hide themselves away to record their third album. They are a seven-piece London outfit who play blue grass and folk. This is a charity event for Music in Prisons. Event Details

August and After, Paper Dress Vintage, Shoreditch

https://soundcloud.com/augustandafter/03-the-orchard

This band have been playing a monthly residency at Ronnie Scott's, which was so popular it has been extended. They are brilliant live, with charming lyrics and ethereal melodies. Go see them at Paper Dress Vintage, a clothes shop by day and venue by night. Event Details

These Ghosts, The Monarch, Camden

A few years ago These Ghosts released their beautifully titled debut album 'You are not lost you are here' and their second is being finished now. Expect dreamy vocals, strong bass lines and great hooks. Event Details

Friday 21 February

The Mercanaries, The Roadtrip, Hoxton

https://soundcloud.com/themercanariesuk/hard-to-please

These guys cite their influences as The Happy Mondays and The Stone Roses but there is a bit of punk edge in there too. They have played with some great acts including a recent support slot for Finley Quaye. Event Details

Saturday 22 February

Harleighblu, KoKo, Mornington Crescent

This is a track from her debut album 'Forget me not'. This gig is to celebrate record label 'Tru Thoughts's' 15th birthday and they are using it as an excuse to showcase all of the talent on their books. Expect at least 10 different acts performing tonight. Event Details

Roy De Roy, Jamboree, Limehouse

https://soundcloud.com/roy-de-roy/kimavci

Pure Polka Punk from Europe's finest. They sing about 'paranoid society, vain Diasporas and the history of the Balkans'. I don't know what the lyrics mean but the music makes me dance about like a four-year-old who has been given a Red Bull. Event Details

The Coal Porters, Green Note, Camden

https://soundcloud.com/the-coal-porters/the-coal-porters-find-the-9

Describing what they do as 'alt blue grass', this track is from the band's fifth album called 'Find the One'. They toured the USA twice in the past year. Event Details

Sunday 23 February

Richard Maule, The Finsbury, Manor House

https://soundcloud.com/richardmaule/richard-maule-how-you-see-me

This week's 'Shameless Favourite' is a free gig, to boot. Richard Maule plays as one of six acts today — a great way to spend a lazy day in the pub. Richard is in the process of releasing his first album, 'Dust and Grain'. Event Details
