Ticket Alert: Basement Jaxx, Surfer Blood, Woodkid And More

Perhaps as a consequence of the long weekend, it's been a relatively quiet week for live music announcements. Still, here are some of the new gigs on sale this week. Tickets to these will be available from 9am Friday, except where stated.

Electronic dance icons Basement Jaxx head for O2 Academy Brixton on 6 December. They have a new album due some time this year, so presumably you'll get to hear the new material there. Tickets £30 + bf.

The Pigeon Detectives are doing well to still be around long after the guitar-band-bubble burst. To prove their staying power, they play a sold out gig tonight at Dingwalls. Missed that? You can see them at Koko instead, on 30 October. Tickets £16.50 + bf.

Floridian alt-rockers Surfer Blood have lots of good guitar hooks and aren't afraid to use them. You might be familiar with their sun-drenched 2010 single, Swim. They play the Sebright Arms on 19 June. Tickets £10 + bf.

Goldheart Assembly recently headlined one of the final gigs at the Bull and Gate in Kentish Town. They've announced a short tour later this year, including a date at The Borderline on 9 July. Tickets £10 + bf – available now.

Woodkid is a French video director called Yoann Lemoine who first made a name for himself working with artists like Katie Perry and Lana Del Rey. He also makes music with sophisticated, broad soundscapes and stark originality. See him at O2 Academy Brixton on 13 November. Tickets available from 9am Saturday.

Also booking this week: Wavves, Teleman and Mark Owen.
