Gig Alert: Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds @ Her Majesty’s Theatre

Nick Cave and the Bad seeds looking pretty relaxed in the studio

For nearly 30 years Nick Cave has delivered an obtuse and often sinister world view through murder ballads and howling strings, and on the eve of his latest gothic masterpiece, Push the Sky Away, he is coming to London for an exclusive album launch.

To introduce his 15th disc with the Bad Seeds, Nick Cave has announced a one-off show in the opulence of Her Majesty’s Theatre on 10 February as part of four jet-setting global events across Paris, Berlin and Los Angeles.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds will perform the new record accompanied by strings and a choir within the theatre’s plush settings, and will also  screen a short film about the making of the album directed by film-makers Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard.

It may seem like a snake-hipped bogeyman infiltrating refined society, but as one of Britain’s finest songwriters – yeah, he’s Australian but he’s ours now – the grandiose setting for this special event is truly fitting.

Tickets go on sale at 4pm today, so wrap-up those emails and cancel the late meeting, and start hammering the ticket refresh button on nickcave.com.
