Entertainment combining science, art and stuff that's simply 'interesting' is a boom area. Witness the rise of shows like Bright Club, the Lost Lectures, Festival of the Spoken Nerd, and our own Spacetacular.
Jugular ("Joining the head and the heart"...see what they did?) is the new show in town, although it's previously been road-tested at Secret Garden Party and Wilderness Festival. The basic idea is to mix big science (galaxies, bosons, relativity...that kind of thing) with performance arts and audience participation.
In their own words:
We take you on a fantastical whirlwind journey of giant ideas, through quantum mechanics, particle accelerators, blackholes and Chaotic butterflies. Run riot with daredevil aerial artists, dubstep dancers, live experiments, star-crossed lovers and a horny frenchman. You'll not just be a spectator but an active maker of the science and arts that enfold with our beautiful visual games and of course we'll test if you've learned anything with our formidable quizmaster!
The event is organised by Gung Ho Down, and will be held (as is now traditional with such things) at a secret London location that will only be revealed a couple of days before. Presenters include Dr Marek Kukula (Royal Observatory), Dr Martin Austwick (Chaos theory, UCL), and your humble Londonist editor M@, as that 'formidable quizmaster'.
