The programme went live at the beginning of September, and BFI members have been able to buy tickets for over a week, but tickets to this year’s London Film Festival finally go on sale to everyone else today at 9.30am.
Proceedings kick off with Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie, the Opening Night Gala on 10 October at the BFI Imax and Odeon Leicester Square, with other Gala screenings set to prove popular with audiences. Aside from the Gala and In Competition screenings, the festival is handily split into thematic sections: Love, Debate, Dare, Laugh, Thrill, Cult, Journey, Sonic, and Family. In addition, you can also choose from a wide range of shorts, experimental film-making and key restorations and revivals before the Festival closes with Mike Newell’s interpretation of Great Expectations.
For those hoping for something a little more local, there are plenty of screenings taking place across the city at the Cine Lumière, Curzon Mayfair, Renoir, Hackney Picturehouse, ICA, Rich Mix, Ritzy, and Screen on the Green.
Tickets are available from the LFF website. Prices range from £30 for the Opening and Closing Night Galas, to £11.50 for evening and weekend screenings at the smaller London cinemas listed above and a very reasonable £8 for matinee screenings.
