Doggie Preview: The Canine Games @ Haggerston Park

Watch out for hipsters with hounds on Haggerston Park this Saturday as the Canine Games provide an Olympic style opportunity for dog-kind, dog lovers and denizens of dog shows.

Expect an opening ceremony with patriotic pooches and rainbow rovers in honour of World Pride. Then the Games begin with events as diverse as Best Eastender, Hottie Haute Dog, Best Doglympian and Fastest Wag Per Minute.

The School of Dog will be on hand to do free microchipping, dog behaviour advice and responsible ownership tips. Your woofs can get hitched in the canine chapel of love. Knit your own dog in the creative canine camp and there'll be music and entertainment on the Lady and the Tramp stage.

Very precious pooches can gain admittance to Pawditch House where they'll find Mutt Mocktails, a doggy disco and special doggy bag, but only if their humans have paid for the VIP ticket (£25).

Think your dog's a contender? It's £6 to register them for the Games. Humans can pay £6 or £3 for entry and kids are a quid - plus donations to dog charities, including Dogs Trust, PDSA and Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Buy tickets and register your dog online.

The Canine Games begin at midday on Saturday 7 July in Haggerston Park. Like them on Facebook for more information.
