Art Preview: Crossing Lines – Memorial @ Greenwich Gallery

A memorial can be in response to the tragic passing of a loved one or merely something that reminds us of days gone by, conjuring up memories of happier times.

What is photography’s role in memory? Is it simply a trigger, a memory realised into physical form or something in between? Does a photograph only have poignancy to the person’s involved or is there something more palpable that other viewers can feel as well?

Crossing Lines is a collective of photographers  seeking to explore the answers to the metaphysical questions around memory through their exhibition ‘Memorial’ at Greenwich gallery. They are a collaboration between London Independent Photography and the Centre for Urban and Community Research at Goldsmith’s College.

Crossing Lines: Memorial is on at Greenwich Gallery – Linear House, Peyton Place, SE10 8RS from 23 July – 4 August. Entrance is free.
